The Graduate Student Association provides editorial support to fee paying UB graduate students. These services are for the graduate students who are preparing term papers, theses, dissertations, articles for publication, and other writing projects. Please feel free to contact us via e-mail with individual questions and concerns.

OUR SERVICES

GSA provides free editorial assistance in order to help graduate students improve the quality of papers and dissertations. This is a proofreading/copyediting service that typically uses the Microsoft Word “Track Changes” feature. Turnaround times may vary according to the length of the submission, the amount of editing required, and the number of projects pending with the editors.

Please note: This program should not be used as a substitute for thesis guidance and/or a structured teaching program. Students are responsible for seeking outside assistance, and we will notify students when submissions require substantial revisions for (and beyond) grammar, punctuation, and coherence. That is, editorial assistance is not a drop-off service only; when editorial concerns require instructional support, students should make a reasonable effort to work with advisors in their revisions. As a proofreading service, you can reasonably assume we may not know the specific needs of your discipline.

To that end, editors cannot be held responsible for omissions, errors, or delays since this is not a paid professional service. Editors, who are also UB graduate students, are not directly obligated, through any contract to other students, for services provided. Nevertheless, editors maintain the highest professional conduct.
